Privacy Policy

Sidemark is a Chrome extension that allows users to leave and read comments on any webpage. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

Posting a comment or liking requires signing in with Google. When you use Sidemark, we collect and store on our servers only the following:

Google account identifier — a unique ID provided by Google (the "sub" value), used to attribute comments and likes to a verified identity and to prevent impersonation. It is not your email and cannot be used to contact you.
Display name — the name on your Google account, shown publicly next to your comments as your username
Comment text — the content of your comment or reply
Page URL — the normalized URL of the page you commented on
Timestamp — when the comment was created
Like count — aggregate number of likes per comment

      We do NOT store on our servers: your email address, your IP address, your Google profile picture, your browsing history, or any other personal data beyond what is listed above. Your email is received from Google only to verify your sign-in and is not saved on our servers.
    

Google Sign-In: Sidemark uses Google OAuth (via the browser's identity permission) for authentication. Signing in is required to post or like comments; reading comments is not. We request your basic Google profile (name, profile picture) and email. Your display name and Google account identifier are stored with your comments and likes as described above. Your email reaches our server only momentarily to verify each request and is never stored. Your profile picture is shown only inside the extension and is kept in your browser, not on our servers.

2. Data Stored Locally (Your Device)

The extension stores the following data in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) — this data never leaves your device:

Your Google profile from sign-in — display name, email, and profile picture URL — cached so you stay signed in; removed when you sign out
IDs of comments you have liked (to prevent double-liking)
IDs of comments you have posted, with their delete tokens (to show and authorize your delete button)

3. How We Use Your Data

The data you submit is used solely to display comments to other users visiting the same webpage. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose.

4. Data Storage & Security

Comments are stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Railway (cloud infrastructure). Data is transmitted over HTTPS. We apply API key authentication and rate limiting to protect the service from abuse.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

Your comments are stored indefinitely unless you delete them. You can delete any comment you posted using the delete button (🗑) that appears on your own comments within the extension. We do not create a traditional account or password; we only store the Google account identifier described above alongside your comments. You can sign out at any time from the extension, and you may contact us to request removal of all comments associated with your Google identifier.

6. Legal Basis (GDPR)

For users in the European Union, the legal basis for processing your data is consent — by submitting a comment, you consent to that data being stored and displayed. You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your comments.

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

Right of access — your comments are visible in the extension
Right to erasure — delete your comments using the delete button
Right to object — contact us to request complete removal

8. Children's Privacy

Sidemark is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes.

Sidemark, kullanıcıların herhangi bir web sayfasına yorum bırakmasını ve okumasını sağlayan bir Chrome eklentisidir. Bu Gizlilik Politikası, hangi verileri topladığımızı, nasıl kullandığımızı ve haklarınızı açıklar.

1. Topladığımız Veriler

Yorum yapmak veya beğenmek için Google ile giriş gereklidir. Sidemark kullanıldığında sunucularımızda yalnızca şu veriler saklanır:

Google hesap kimliği — Google'ın sağladığı benzersiz kimlik ("sub" değeri); yorum ve beğenileri doğrulanmış bir kimliğe bağlamak ve taklidi önlemek için kullanılır. E-postanız değildir ve sizinle iletişim kurmak için kullanılamaz.
Görünen ad — Google hesabınızdaki isim; yorumlarınızın yanında kullanıcı adı olarak herkese açık gösterilir
Yorum metni — yorum veya yanıt içeriği
Sayfa URL'i — yorumun bırakıldığı sayfanın normalleştirilmiş URL'i
Zaman damgası — yorumun oluşturulma zamanı
Beğeni sayısı — her yorum için toplam beğeni

      Sunucularımızda saklamadığımız veriler: e-posta adresiniz, IP adresiniz, Google profil fotoğrafınız, gezinti geçmişiniz veya yukarıda belirtilenler dışında herhangi bir kişisel veri. E-postanız yalnızca Google girişinizi doğrulamak için anlık olarak alınır ve sunucularımızda saklanmaz.
    

Google ile Giriş: Sidemark kimlik doğrulama için Google OAuth (tarayıcının identity izni) kullanır. Yorum yapmak ve beğenmek için giriş gerekir; yorumları okumak için gerekmez. Temel Google profilinize (ad, profil fotoğrafı) ve e-postanıza erişim isteriz. Görünen adınız ve Google hesap kimliğiniz, yukarıda açıklandığı gibi yorum ve beğenilerinizle birlikte saklanır. E-postanız sunucumuza yalnızca her isteği doğrulamak için anlık ulaşır ve hiçbir zaman saklanmaz. Profil fotoğrafınız yalnızca eklenti içinde gösterilir ve tarayıcınızda tutulur, sunucularımızda tutulmaz.

2. Cihazınızda Saklanan Veriler

Eklenti aşağıdaki verileri tarayıcınızın yerel depolama alanında (chrome.storage.local) saklar — bu veriler cihazınızdan çıkmaz:

Girişten gelen Google profiliniz — görünen ad, e-posta ve profil fotoğrafı bağlantısı — oturumunuzun açık kalması için önbelleğe alınır; çıkış yapınca silinir
Beğendiğiniz yorumların kimlikleri (çift beğeniyi önlemek için)
Gönderdiğiniz yorumların kimlikleri ve silme token'ları (sil butonunu göstermek ve yetkilendirmek için)

3. KVKK Kapsamında Haklarınız

6698 sayılı Kişisel Verilerin Korunması Kanunu (KVKK) kapsamında aşağıdaki haklara sahipsiniz:

Kişisel verilerinizin işlenip işlenmediğini öğrenme
İşlenmişse buna ilişkin bilgi talep etme
Eksik veya yanlış işlenmiş verilerin düzeltilmesini isteme
Verilerin silinmesini veya yok edilmesini isteme (yorumlarınızı eklentideki sil butonu ile silebilirsiniz)
İşlenen verilerin münhasıran otomatik sistemler vasıtasıyla analiz edilmesi suretiyle aleyhinize bir sonucun ortaya çıkmasına itiraz etme

4. Veri Saklama ve Güvenlik

Yorumlar Railway bulut altyapısında PostgreSQL veritabanında saklanır. Tüm veri iletimi HTTPS üzerinden gerçekleştirilir. API anahtar doğrulaması ve istek sınırlama (rate limiting) uygulanmaktadır.
